To create the supervisor password

  1. On the Tools menu, click Protection and then Turn Protection On.
  2. Enter the supervisor password.

If this is your first time setting up the supervisor password, enter "sup" as the Password. Once this is entered, it is important to change the supervisor password.

  3. Click OK.
  4. Select Yes to the question "Are you sure you want to enforce protection" to enable system protection. Selecting this option activates all commands on the Protection sub-menu and provides access to the Change Password command.
  5. On the Tools menu, click Protection and then Change Password.
  6. Enter the old password as indicated. For security purposes, asterisks (*) appear instead of letters.
  7. In the middle box, type the new password.
  8. In the confirmation box, re-enter the password
  9. Click OK.

Now any user of the Time program requires this password to modify protection options for the file.

  • If you are converting a file from Time version 2001 or before or from the DOS version, then in order to use your previous security settings, you must turn on protection, and enter "sup" as the Password. At this time, access rights and staff passwords are re-activated as they were in the older version.
  • After conversion to the latest version of Time, protection settings are saved at the file level. If you are using more than one company file, protection needs to be set in each file.
