Importing opening balances

If you have work in process or accounts receivable balances in another Time package, you can export the balances as an ASCII text file and then import the ASCII text file into Time. This method is the most efficient and least time consuming. If you are unsure how to export the balances from the original software package, open the software package and access the online help on the Help menu. Do a search in the Index of topics for the word "export" or "ASCII" and follow any available procedures. Alternately, you can contact the Technical Support line for the software package and inquire if it is possible to export the work in process or accounts receivable balances as an ASCII Text File.

Once you have successfully exported the balances into an ASCII Text File, you can use the Time Import feature to import the information into your file as opening balances. See the topic Import Overview for more information.

  • If the originating software package does not have the capability to export the existing opening balances as an ASCII text file, you must enter the opening balances manually.
