Mapping Database Purge

Purging removes map accounts from the client file. This is done by filtering map numbers to show only the map numbers applicable to a specific file.

Since accounts vary from client to client, the mapping database can become very large and unwieldy. Purging the accounts results in smaller client files and will make some operations such as assign mapping faster and easier.

The first step is to create the purge criteria. This identifies the filter ID, the dBase filter expression to use, and whether to keep or remove the map accounts that match the expression. These criteria are saved with the client file and are copied during a copy components operation.

Once the purge criteria are created, the accounts for the appropriate client file can be purged. The map numbers are then removed permanently from the client file. The purged account numbers may only be added back using a mechanism such as copy components. Map accounts with adjustments will not be deleted. In addition, accounts assigned to purged map accounts will be unassigned; a log file with this information will display after the purge is run.
