Importing from Client Strategist (8)

The instructions in this topic are for importing from Client Strategist 8 into CaseWare Working Papers. If you are importing from Client Strategist 3 & 6, see Importing from Client Strategist (3&6).

File Containing...
GLCONTRL.DBF Profile information
GLFISCAL.DBF Beginning and ending dates of each accounting period
GLACNO.DBF Trial Balance (Chart of Accounts)
GLTRCUR.DBF General Ledger Detail for current period (optional)
GLTRHST.DBF General Ledger Detail for earlier periods in same fiscal year (optional)
GLTRFUT.DBF General Ledger Detail for later periods in same fiscal year (optional)

  • If Protection is activated, the File permission "Import" is required to perform this operation.
  1. Open the client file in which you want to import.

  2. From the Engagement tab, select Import | Working Paper Software.

  3. In the Convert From field, select Client Strategist (8) and in the Version field, select the default 8.0.

    Note: Click here to see all Working Paper Software supported versions.

  4. In the Convert Path field, type the exact path where the file you want to import resides or use Browse to locate the file manually.

  5. To import client information, click Import Client Information. This information will be displayed in the Engagement Properties dialog.

  6. To import general ledger detail for the current year, select the General Ledger Detail check box.

    Note: Working Papers can convert files set up for 1, 4, 12, or 13 accounting periods per year.

  7. To import prior year balances into Working Papers, select the Prior Year Data check box. If selected, any existing prior year data will be overwritten. If left blank, prior year data will not be imported.

  8. Click OK to begin importing.

The information from the Client Strategist files will be imported into the Working Papers client file.
