Tools Tab

The Tools tab is used to repair, maintain, customize, and set up protection for CaseWare Working Papers and client files.

Note: Visible commands vary based on the currently selected document.

Repair File

Click on an area in the screen shot below to view its description

Repair File

Opens the Repair File dialog to carry out maintenance that returns Working Papers to optimal performance.

Maintenance

Opens the Maintenance Wizard to remove all unused accounts, undo sign outs, and undo check outs.

Diagnostics

Runs tests on the client file via the Diagnostics dialog to identify incomplete areas or instances of conflicting information in your engagement files.

Recalculated Adjusting Entries

Recalculates all adjusting entries.

Map XBRL Taxonomy

Assigns an XBRL (eXtensible Business Reporting Language) taxonomy to the mapping structure.

Helper Applications

Opens the Setup Helper Applications dialog to register an external application with Working Papers or to modify the properties of an existing helper application.

Protection

Opens the Protection sub-menu with the following options:

Protection Setup: Opens the Protection Setup dialog to allow you to enter employee information and create or modify user groups with access rights to areas of the client file.
Note: This option will change to Cloud Security when integrated with a CaseWare Cloud server that has Security Integration enabled. Cloud Security opens a Share dialog in CaseWare Cloud on the embedded browser, allowing to control security settings for the engagement.
Turn Protection On/Off: Activate or deactivate security features of Working Papers.
Note: This option will change to Turn Cloud Protection On when integrated with a CaseWare Cloud server that has Security Integration enabled.
Lock/Unlock Client File: Lock the current client file against changes or reopen a locked client file.
Who Am I? Displays information about your current user identification number, name, position at the firm, and any groups to which you are assigned.
Change Password: Changes the password for the current user.

Note: This option will not be available when integrated with CaseWare Cloud.
