About ASCII Text File and Excel File Imports

ASCII text files and Excel files are two of the different methods available for importing data into a Working Papers file. Both use an Import Wizard to define the data that is imported.

An ASCII text file (.txt, .csv, .rtf, .caj) can be used to import data into Working Papers via the ASCII Text File Import Wizard.

Information that can be imported:

  • Chart of accounts and general ledger balances
  • General ledger details
  • Adjusting journal entries

An Excel file (.xls, .xlsx) can be used to import data into Working Papers via the Excel File Import Wizard.

Information that can be imported:

  • Chart of accounts and general ledger balances
  • General ledger details
  • Adjusting journal entries
  • There is a limit of 200 journal source types. If you perform multiple imports, ensure to not exceed more than 200 journal source types.
