The SyncLog File
View the synchronization log to track and diagnose incorrect synchronization behavior.
Sync copies do not actively sync with one another but rather with their respective SyncLog files. Each SyncLog contains a record of all of the changes made in the sync copies. Some functionality, such as SmartSync Repair, depend on the SyncLog file. It can be also be used to troubleshoot synchronization issues.
To view the synchronization log, enter cw:synclog.htm on the Working Papers search bar.
Some of the processes that the SyncLog file tracks include:
- Changes made to the file.
- Documents selected as the Current Version to resolve a conflict.
- Synchronization date, time and workstation.
Entries in the SyncLog file are referred to as operations and are color coded by category for easy identification:
- Green - Insertion
- Red - Modification
- Blue - Deletion
- Yellow - Conflict Resolution
- Cyan - Program Message
- Gray - Debug Message
Each operation contains information such as the date, time, workstation, and user name to help troubleshoot.
Notes
- Deleting the SyncLog file is not recommended until work on the local sync copy has been completed.
