Completing the Import Wizard screen

This screen informs you about whether you have filled out the settings for the import correctly. If they are correct, click the Import button to run the process. If the settings are not complete, use the Back button to return to the screen needing further information and then return to this completion screen to process the job.

You can save the layout and settings used for this import in order to reuse them for future files that share the same layout. This is considered recording the layout file To save the settings, enter the path and name in the Record layout file (optional) field, or click Browse to navigate to the location. The path and name will then be entered automatically. Working Papers automatically determines the type of layout file to save it as based on the data imported and the file type used.

The next time you import a file and want to use this layout, select this layout file in the first page of the import wizard.

  • Layout files are also copied during Copy Components (with all components selected) and during a year-end close. The settings files have names in the following format: <client file name>.xxx where xxx represents one of the following file extensions: .vtb, .ftb, .vgl, or .fgl.
  • When importing period balances, if the layout file does not contain a specified period, the program uses the current date period sequence. The Custom Balance Rates option can be specified by right-clicking the column heading. Here you can identify the period that the columns apply to.
