P2P - Ending a Peer Connection
As a best practice, before returning to the office, ensure each peer synchronizes their changes with the parent and resolves any conflicts. This ensures the top-level parent in the office only needs to reconcile changes from the peer parent, rather than reconciling conflicts that occurred between copies used in the peer hierarchy in the field. Once this is complete you can delete your sync copy. The peer parent should be deleted once it has been returned to the office and synchronized with the top level parent.
Procedure
Peer Sync Copies
- Synchronize all changes to the peer parent.
- (If applicable) If you no longer require the sync copy, discard it:
- On the SmartSync tab, click Delete Synchronized Copy.
- (If applicable) If you will continue to work in the client file, once the parent has synchronized with the top-level parent, connect to the top-level parent:
- On the SmartSync tab, click Properties.
- Select the parent file.
- Click Change Location.
- Navigate to the location of the top-level parent file.
- Click Connect.
Peer Parent
- Receive all child sync changes.
- Resolve all conflicts between the peers.
- On the SmartSync tab, click Properties.
- Select the parent file.
- Click Change Location.
- Navigate to the location of the top-level parent file.
- Click Connect.
Results
The peer connection has been terminated. All changes have been synchronized with the top-level parent with minimal conflicts. All off-site sync copies have been merged in to the hierarchy or deleted.
