About Smart Currency Symbols

Currency signs may be automated for a section using section formatting. Floating currency signs ensure that regardless how many paragraphs skip, a currency sign will always appear in either the first or the last printing cells in a section.

To ensure that a currency sign will be applied to the first cell in a section, select Sinking. Using a sinking currency sign guarantees that, no matter how many paragraphs are skipped within the section, the currency sign will appear in the first printed cell. When applying floating currency signs, the Accept Floating Currency option must be selected for each cell in the section.

To apply a currency sign to the last cell in a section, select Rising. Using a rising currency sign guarantees that, no matter how many paragraphs are skipped within the section, the currency sign will appear in the last printed cell. When applying floating currency signs, the Accept Floating Currency option must be selected for each cell in the section.

Where a page breaks within a section, select Reapply every page for the sinking or rising currency. This ensures that a currency or other unit symbol appears for the first or last printed cell after a page break.

  • Selecting both Sinking currency sign and Rising currency sign positions currency signs in both the first and last valid cells in a section.
