Changing the lockdown override password

If protection is turned on and you have administrative rights, you can change the lockdown password at the time of unlocking a file.

Note: If the file was set to lock down without a password, there is no password to change.

  • If Protection is activated, you require the Engagement right, Lock Down, to perform this operation.
  • If the file was set to lock down with a password, you must know the existing password or be the administrator
  1. Select Engagement | Unlock.

The Lockdown Override dialog box opens.

  2. In the Password field, type the password to the locked file.

Note: If you are an administrator, you do not need to enter the password.

  3. Click Change Password.

The Change Lockdown Override Password dialog box opens.

  4. In the Password field, type a new password.
  5. In the Re-enter field, type the password again.
  6. Click OK.

The File Locked Down dialog box opens.

  7. Type a reason for unlocking the file in the File Locked Down dialog, then click OK.

The password is changed and the file is unlocked. If you entered a reason for unlocking the file, a history event is created; you can check the details in Engagement History (Engagement | History).
