Keeping Documents Active Within Locked Down Files

When you lock down a client file, all documents within the file will be locked down. You can keep some documents active; an active document in the locked file can be edited without unlocking the file.

Note: This must be done before locking down a file.

  • If Protection is activated, you require the Engagement right, Lock Down, to perform this operation.
  1. For each document you wish to keep active, right-click the document and select Properties. If you wish to keep all documents active within a folder, right click on the folder to open its Properties.

The Document Properties or Folder Properties dialog box opens, depending on your selection.

  2. Click the Lock Down checkbox to clear it.
  3. Lock down the file (see Locking Down a Client File for details).

The documents selected in the procedure above will remain active in your locked down file. You will be able to make changes in the file without unlocking it.

  • The Lock Down checkbox is cleared and cannot be modified in a document that has been kept active in a locked down file.
  • If you cleared the Lock Down checkbox in the Folder Properties, then all documents within that folder are kept active.
  • To view documents by lockdown status, you can filter the filter by lockdown status.
