Subproject Template properties and options
A subproject is an extension of Projects in Time. Use the Subproj Management dialog to further refine and categorize projects. Subproject templates are subsets of project templates. When you create a client subproject, the client subproject inherits subproject details from the subproject template.
To use subprojects you must activate subprojects in the Project tab of the Company Profile. For more information, see Activating Projects.
The following descriptions outline the Subproject Management dialog accessible from the menu Setup | Project Management | SubProj Template button.
When editing subproject template dates you have the option to modify dates for client subprojects as well. Ensure dates are valid with respect to other project areas:
- Start date: Subproject template start dates must occur earlier than due dates and completion dates for all other affected project areas. The start date must occur on or earlier than client subproject WIP/RC transaction dates and client subproject start dates.
- Due date: Subproject template due dates must occur later than start dates for all other affected project areas. The due date must occur on or earlier than the project template due date and must occur on or later than the client subproject due date.
- Completion date: Subproject template completion dates must occur later than start dates and WIP/RC transaction dates for all other affected project areas. The completion date must occur on or earlier than the project template completion date and must occur on or later than the client subproject completion date.

Issues are defined tasks for a given project. When you create a Subproject Template, issues are generic items that apply for all client subprojects. You can apply default issues for the subproject template and create client subprojects using the given subproject template.
You have the option to apply issues to all subproject templates or specific client subprojects only. Use the subproject management area to define generic template issues, and use the client subproject area to define client specific issues.
Note: If you create an issue for a subproject template (with existing client projects) a prompt appears with the option to "Assign to all Client Project Y/N?". If you select yes, all existing client projects for that template are updated with the issue. If you select no, the issue is added to the template and added for only new client projects created using the template.
