Work in Process Detail or Summary vs. Work in Process Analysis

  1. Work in Process Detail or Summary reports provide WIP information to a specific date but Work in Process Analysis reports provide information for a specific period of time. For example, if the current period for the file is March, WIP Detail or Summary reports will display the WIP outstanding balances to March 31st. However, WIP Analysis reports will display only WIP outstanding balances from March 1st to 31st unless a different range of dates has been specified in the properties of the document.
  2. Work in Process Detail or Summary reports provide the total of unmarked time and expenses (Quantity) but Work in Process Analysis reports provide the total of both marked and unmarked time and expenses (Quantity). Therefore the Quantity totals are different.

The Work in Process Detail or Summary reports provide the Net amount of outstanding WIP, the but Work in Process Analysis provides both gross and net amount of outstanding WIP, and write up/down amount (Gross outstanding WIP - Write up/down = Net outstanding WIP).
