To enter customized codes in the Client or Group List
Alternate Codes are available for classifying miscellaneous client information. Reports can be produced for clients that match these alternate codes and/or dates. Each Alternate code must be set up by the user. The codes could be for the type of return prepared, birthdays, or tax information.
To add new alternate code categories or new codes
- On the File menu, click Company Profile and then click the Client/Group tab.
- Two preset codes are listed in the "Wording of Buttons" section, Engagement type and status. Others may be set up under the "Alternate Categories" section.
- An unlimited number of codes may be added. To add a new alternate code category, in the Alternate Categories list
- Scroll down to the first blank line.
- Enter a name and brief description for the code category.
- To add codes to a category or to modify a code
- Scroll to the line with the applicable code category.
- Click the button in that line.
- Click the first blank line and enter a code name. Codes can be up to ten characters in length and alphanumeric.
- Enter a brief description for the code. Longer descriptions can be added by clicking the button for the code and using the Memo Description dialog.
- Close the dialog(s) to return to the Company Profile.
- Repeat steps 3 and 4 as applicable.
- Close the Company Profile.
You can now assign these codes to any applicable clients in the Client List. The Alternate codes are also available to the Groups dialog for assigning to groups.
