Controlling Knowledge Library Links Using Events

It is possible to assign events to cells in a CaseView document that automatically insert, update, or delete Knowledge Library Links.

  1. Create a cell or double-click a cell to open the Edit Cell dialog.

When creating a cell to launch a Knowledge Library event, it is recommended the cell number assigned to the event is not the same as any cell number in the Knowledge Library content being inserted.

  2. Select the Events tab.
  3. Click Add.

  4. In the Action box, select one of the following:
  5. If applicable, specify the path and name of the Knowledge Library Link document in the Filename box.

The filename specified can also be entered as a relative link such as 'prgdir()+"library\notes.cvw"', which creates a Knowledge Library link with the following calculation for the file name prgdir()+library\notes.cvw (the current program directory, in a subdirectory called library, locate a library document called notes).

  6. If applicable, enter the Section Label in quotations in the Section Label box.
  7. Click OK.

Notes

  • Section labels are case-sensitive and must be entered in quotations.
  • When a User in the Form Mode clicks on the cell, the Knowledge Library Link is automatically inserted into the current document.
  • Click Undoable to allow users to undo the action after it has been performed. Events in files that are converted from earlier versions of CaseView are NOT undoable by default.
