Creating a Vertical Line

  1. Drag the pointer to select the area in which you want to draw a vertical line.
  2. On the Home tab, click Section, and then click the Boxes tab.

  3. Click New box to design a vertical line for the selected area.
  4. In the Left Position box, type or select the position for the line using the horizontal ruler as a guideline. For example, if you want the vertical line to appear at 3.5" on the horizontal ruler, enter 3.5 in the Left Position boxes.
  5. Type or select the vertical distance from the top of the section to the top of the line.
  6. Type or select the vertical distance from the bottom of the section to the bottom of the line.
  7. In the Line thickness box, type or select the thickness of the line.
  8. Clear the following check boxes:

    Top of Box

    Bottom of Box

    Right Side

  9. Ensure that the Left Side check box is selected.
  10. Click OK.

  11. On the File tab, click Print, and then click Print Preview to view the vertical line as it will appear when printed. Vertical lines created using the boxes command are not visible in the Design or Form Modes.

Notes

  • To create a second line for the same area, enter a horizontal position for the line in the Right Position box and ensure that the Right Side check box is selected.
