Find command
Opens the Find dialog, which enables you to search for a specified type of cell, text or formatting in the active document.
To access the Find dialog, on the Home tab, click Find, or press Ctrl+F.
Find What and Find Text
Here is what to do with the Find What and Find Text boxes for each search:
Note: Not all options are available in Form Mode.

Text |
Type all or part of the text being sought. The entry can be in either upper or lowercase. |
If you are unsure of the spelling of a word, type in as much as you do know and ensure that the Whole Words Only option is not selected before running the search. |
Attached footer |
Select the footer from the available footers in the drop-down list. |
Select no footer to find pages without footers. This feature is not available when searching within headers, footers, carry forward headers and footers, auto copy text, and the freeze. |
Attached header |
Select the header from the available headers in the drop-down list. |
Select no header to find pages without headers. This feature is not available when searching within headers, footers, carry forward headers and footers, auto copy text, and the freeze. |
Cell |
Type in the cell number or select the cell from the available cells in the drop-down list. |
When searching for cells, you must include the prefix. E.g., type "c102" instead of just 102. |
Cell Label |
Select the cell label from the available user-defined cell labels. |

External Data ID |
Select cells with External data references. |
The drop down list displays the available External Data IDs. Select or type in the ID. |
In calculation |
Type the calculation syntax, or select from the available calculations in the drop-down list. |
If you are unsure of the exact calculation, type in as much as you do know and ensure that Whole Words Only is not selected before running the search. |
Note number |
Select the Note Number from the available notes in the drop-down list. |
The drop down list displays both the actual note number and its identifier sorted in document number order. |
Page Setup |
Select the page setup from the setups in the drop-down list. |

Paragraph index |
Select the number of the paragraph from the drop-down list. |
Allows you to navigate to a paragraph in Design Mode by index number. |
Paragraph tag |
Select the paragraph tag from the drop-down list of available tags. |
Allows you to navigate to a paragraph in Design Mode by tag. |
Permission Configuration |
Type in the name of the permission group or select the cell from the available options in the drop-down list. |
Once found, the section highlights in red and the text is highlighted. |
Section |
Type in the Section label or select the section from the available sections in the drop-down list. |

Section Carry Forward Tag |
Type in the carry forward tag that you would like to find. |
Finds all sections that use this carry forward tag. |
Section Sort Group |
Type in the section sort group that you would like to find. |
Finds all sections that use the selected sort group. Note that the search will include substrings. For example, if you have a sort group called "ABCDE", a search for "BCD" will match. |
Style |
Select the style from the available styles in the drop-down list. |

Table |
Type in the table label or select the cell from the available tables in the drop-down list. |

TOC Marker |
No text can be entered for this search. |
Available in Design mode only. Finds all paragraphs that have a TOC marker enabled.
A paragraph will be matched and selected if it contains an enabled TOC entry. |
Notes
- If you are unsure of whether the string you are searching for is contained in a text paragraph, a cell or a calculation, you must repeat the search for each. CaseView does not allow you to search through all components simultaneously.
- Not all options are available at all times, depending on the current location within the document. For example, when editing a Header, the option to find Attached Header is not available.
Search
Use the drop-down list to set the direction and scope of the search.
All
Searches the entire document.
Up or Down
Searches from the insertion point to either the start or the end of the document, respectively.
In Selection
If part of the document is highlighted, this option will be available to limit the find and replace operation to within the confines of the selected content.
Whole Words only
Finds only those occurrences that are whole words, and not part of a larger word. If you are unsure of whether the word is compounded with another word, leave this box cleared.
Match Case
Finds only those occurrences with the exact combination of uppercase and lowercase letters specified in the Find What box. If you are unsure of the capitalization used, leave this box cleared.
Find Next
Finds and selects the next occurrence of the text or cell specified in the Find What and Find Text boxes.
Note
- To cancel a search in progress, press Esc.
- To close the dialog box, click Cancel.
