Carry Forward Totals tab - Section dialog

Complete these options to add a carry forward header or footer to a section. Carry forward headers/ footers are most often used along with accumulator groups to add long columns of figures separated by page breaks, but they can also be used along with text to include explanatory information, such as "Balance Sheet notes, con't", on pages following a page break.

Before using this dialog, first create a carry forward footer to display subtotals at the bottom of each page and the top of the following page. Once the carry forward footer is created, complete these options to attach the carry forward footer to the selected area.

Enable carry forward headers and footers

Click this option to display carry forward headers and footers at the bottom of each page in the section and the top of the following page. If the selected area does not span more than one page, no carry forward text or subtotals will appear.

Definition

Select header and footer options for carry forward totals.

Clear carry forward accumulators at start of section

If more than one section in the document use carry forward headers and footers, select this option to begin accumulating from zero at the start of the current section.

Section can be assigned up to 2 carry forward headers. The two carry forward headers tags are separated by ",". The carry forward header tags can be related to paragraphs in the carry forward header, or in the main body of the document.

Paragraphs in carry forward header tagged with

To print an accumulator total at the top of a page following a column of figures, select the paragraph tag attached to the carry forward header. It is necessary to first create a carry forward header.

Paragraphs in carry forward footer tagged with

To print an accumulator total at the bottom of a column of figures, select the paragraph tag attached to the carry forward footer. It is necessary to first create a carry forward footer.

Print footer immediately after main body text

If there is only one carry forward footer, it is possible to specify where the footer appears. Clicking this box displays the accumulated total after the main body of text. If a column of figures ends in the middle of a page, the carry forward footer, displays on the next available line. To display the carry forward footer at the bottom of the page regardless of where the figures stop, clear this option.

When there is more than one carry forward footer, this option is not available.

Allow multiple carry forwards

At a page break, CaseView checks to see which sections over the page break have this option enabled. If all the sections straddling the page break have the option turned on, then the carry forward headers/ footers from each section display. If all the sections do not have this option enabled, CaseView uses the headers and footers from the first section only.

Use new accumulator totals

Select to add all cells in a specified accumulator group to the accumulator total, regardless of whether they are containedin a section with a carry forward header defined or not. This option also allows all sections that have been marked as "Clear all Accumulators" to cause accumulators to be cleared – even if they do on appear in sections with defined carry forward headers. In addition, accumulator cells are added based on the location of the cell itself, not just based on where the paragraph containing the cell falls on the page.

Repeat carry forward on every page of wide wrapping table

Repeats a carry forward header on all pages covered by a wide table. Without this setting enabed, pages containing table content with the left-most columns would receive the carry forward but not pages without. This option will ensure the same carry forward is presented on all pages of the table. This is particularly useful for creating note heading carry forwards that will need to span multiple pages.
