Creating Table Link Sets

Before creating a linked set, make sure that both of the areas of content you want to link have a sort group assigned to them.

For tables, sort groups can be created by, on the Home tab, clicking Table | Properties, and clicking the Sort Groups tab. See Creating a Sort Group in a Table for more information about creating sort groups.

  1. Place the cursor in a table with sort groups.
  2. On The Home tab, click Table | Properties, and then click the Sort Groups tab.

  3. Select the applicable sort group.
  4. Click Link to open the Link Sort Group dialog.

Note: Unlinked sort groups are listed in the left pane. The current sort group is bolded.

  5. Click Create.
  6. In the Link Set Name box, enter a name and click OK.

The Link Set appears in the right hand pane.

  7. Select at least one other sort group to add to the Link Set and click Add.

Both members of the Link Set must have a similar number of items in them to form a Link Set. For example, a table sort group with four rows can be linked to a set of four paragraphs in a section that are part of a sort group, but not to a sort group that has five paragraphs. To make this process easier, CaseView lists the size of each group in the dialog.

As well, items in both sort groups must be in corresponding order prior to linking the sort groups because CaseView uses the position of the items in each sort group when sorting.

  8. Repeat step 7 to add additional sort groups to the Link Set.
  9. When finished, click OK, and then click OK again.

Notes

  • Once linked, when one member of the Link Set is sorted, the other members are sorted in the same manner automatically. If you want to sort one sort group separately from the others, see Temporarily Disabling a Link Set.
