Paste Special Command

Inserts a copy of the clipboard content at the cursor's current location with a choice of formatting. This command is not available if the clipboard is empty or if the selected text cannot be replaced. This requires a document security configuration that includes rights for Modify Character Level Formatting, Modify Paragraph Formatting, or Modify Table Formatting depending on where the content is being pasted.

For languages other than English, the content may need to be pasted using a Unicode selection in this dialog to prevent character display issues.

To access the Paste Special command, on the Home tab, click Paste | Paste Special.

Source

The Source section indicates the type of source for the information on the clipboard.

As

The As drop-down menu enables users to choose the format when pasting the content. You can choose various options including Formatted text, but the formats listed in this drop-down are based on the source that the content was copied from.

Notes

  • Pasting formatted text is only an option if the data on the clipboard can be formatted.
  • When pasting formatted text from Word or Excel in From Mode (Enable Editing), ensure that the appropriate document security settings are enabled in Design Mode.
