Watermark Tab - Watermark Dialog

Use this dialog to set a watermark for all the pages within the scope (current page, this page forward or the whole document) selected in the Page Setup dialog.

Note: Due to differences between printer and screen drivers, watermarks may not print with the same intensity as they appear in the print preview. In the extreme case, no watermark will print even though it appears in the print preview. If this problem occurs, increase the shading intensity of the watermark until the watermark appears on the printed document.

Watermark

Enter the text in quotes that you want to appear on the page in the form of a watermark. If you would like to enter a text function to control the watermark, click the images\extdesc_shg.gif button to access the Calculation Editor.

If the watermark text is long, you can use line breaks to display the text on multiple lines. Press Shift+Enter where you want to start a new line. A paragraph marker in the text box indicates where the lines break.

The text escapement (printing angle) selection applies to all lines of the watermark text. Individual lines cannot be printed at a different angle.

Shade intensity

Select the darkness of the text expressed as a percentage. As a general rule, the watermark %'s are

1-4

- light

5-24

- medium

25 -

-dark

For example, if your watermark contains the text "My Watermark", the distance of the watermark from the left and top of the page is measured according to the position of the letter "t".

Font settings are controlled by the Font tab.

Print Watermark on top of the document

This option allows you to specify whether the watermark text will be printed below the regular text of the document (the default), or on top of the regular text.

Notes

  • The Print Watermark on top of the document option may obscure some of the text from the main document.
  • The Print Watermark on top of the document option supports PDF, Excel, and Word, but not RTF and HTML exports.
  • When printing watermark text on top of documents, it is recommended to turn off any print optimizations that optimize the output or reduce the quality of the print out. This can be done through Printer Preferences accessible through the Control Panel or the Print dialog.
