Page Setup Command

Note that the Page Setup dialog which appears in Form mode is different from that in Design mode. Click here for more information.

In this dialog you can change margins, height and position of headers and/ or footers as well as the page numbers for either the entire document or specific pages.

First Page Number

Select the number to be used as the first page number. If using Roman Numerals, the maximum allowable first page number is 3999.

The First Page Number check box appears only when Whole Document is selected from the Scope area.

Page Numbering Drop-down (available when scope is set to "Current Page" or "This Page Forward")

To change the page number increments, select the appropriate option in the drop-down.

Manually set the current page number to override existing incrementation settings.

Increase page number by:

Manually set the incrementation amount.

Scope

To specify the area of the document whose page setup you wish to modify, click an option under Scope. The scope applies to margins, headers, footers, and watermarks.

Current Page

Applies the settings to the current page and to all succeeding pages until the next hard page break. To apply settings to one page only, ensure that page ends with a hard page break.

This page forward

Applies the settings to the current page and all succeeding pages.

Whole Document

Applies the settings to the entire document.

Margins

Set the distances from the page edges to the print margins. For each of the four margins – Top, Bottom, Left and Right - type or select the distance between the text on the page and that boundary of the page. The Left and Right margins are set for lines with no right or left indents.

Note: If you have set up tables with auto-fit columns, changing the page width will not automatically adjust the existing columns to the new page width until you open the Column Properties dialog and click OK.

Mirror margins

When printing pages on both sides that are to be bound, this lets the user specify a wider margin and account for the space needed on the inside of the page for the binding. If selected, the left margin becomes the "Inside" margin and the right margin will become the "Outside".

Note that this feature is not directly related to Even/Odd headers and footers.

2 Column Printing

If desired, set options for printing two columns per page.

Enable

To print the selected scope of the document in two columns, select Enable. The two-column effect may be viewed in the print preview screen.

Tip: Press Alt+2 to quickly select this check box.

Distance between Columns

Type the distance between the two columns. The maximum distance allowed is 3" or 7.5 cm.

Paper Control

Select formats for printed documents.

Override document paper control

Changes the document paper control settings when the scope does not include the whole document. To change the page orientation, the paper source, or size for only the current page or a selected range of pages, activate this check box.

Portrait or Landscape

Select either Portrait, the vertical page orientation where the paper size sets so that the short edge of the page is across the top and bottom, or Landscape, the horizontal page orientation, where the paper size sets so that the long edge of the page is across the top and bottom.

Size

Select a paper size available for your printer.

Source

Select the paper tray from which you want the paper print. Select "Default" and the program chooses the tray currently set on the printer.

Document Options – Print on Both Sides

Select the way in which the document should be printed on both sides.

Note: To print a document with a mix of double and single sided pages, a Print on Both Sides setting must be selected for Whole Document in the Scope section of the Page Setup dialog.

The document will use the options for double-sided printing the user has set up for the printer through the Control Panel, Printers and Faxes option. (To review the printer's settings, in Windows click Start | Settings | Printers and Faxes.)

None

The document will print on one side of the paper only.

Flip on long edge

The document will print double-sided and the pages will flip on the long edge. This is the choice normally made when the pages are printed in Portrait orientation. pages read like a book. Your printer may use a different term for this, such as Long Side.

Flip on short edge

The document will print double-sided and the pages will flip on the short side. This is most commonly used when printing pages in Landscape orientation. pages are read by flipping them over like a notepad. Your printer may use a different term for this, such as Short Side.

Headers/ footers

Select options for headers and footers in the printed document.

Override header/footer

Check this box to specify a custom header/footer size. Please note the "Whole Document" header/footer size is what is being overwritten; therefore this option is disabled if Whole Document is selected as the setup scope.

Select the header height. Note that the maximum height for a header is 3 inches.

Sets a minimum header height that CaseView can adjust to accommodate larger font sizes that would not otherwise fit within the specified spacing.

Sets a maximum header height that CaseView can adjust to accommodate smaller font sizes that do not require the full height of the header.

Exactly

Sets a fixed header height that CaseView does not adjust.

Type or select the header height you want. This option is available only if you select At least, At most or Exactly.

leading

Type or select the leading space you want. The leading space refers to the space between the bottom of the header and the start of the body.

Footer size

Select the footer height. Note that the maximum height for a footer is 3 inches.

Type or select the footer height you want. This option is available only if you select At least, At most or Exactly.

leading

Type or select the leading space you want. The leading space refers to the space between the bottom of the body and the start of the footer.

Accept page numbers

Select this check box to apply a page number to the current page. If cleared, the page does not display a page number and page numbers for subsequent pages adjust accordingly.

Ignore page setup if skipped

Select this check box to ignore page settings for the current page if the lines on it meet skip print conditions.

Center page vertically

Select to center the contents of the page vertically with the top and bottom page margins. This includes any headers and footers on the page as well as carry-forward sections. Extra pages that are added for wide tables will have their headers and footers in the same position as they appear on the page where the table appears first.

Override Watermark

Select this check box to override the Watermark setting for the current page.

Remove page setup for current page

Select this check box to remove page settings for the current page only without affecting the entire document.

Borders

Choose this button to apply borders and shading to the chosen scope of the document. The Borders and Shading dialog will launch.

Watermark

Choose this button to apply a watermark to the chosen scope of the document. Select and the Watermark dialog opens to allow watermark and font options to be set.
