Setting up a Section Sort

  1. Select the paragraphs you want to be included in the first section.
  2. On the Home tab, click Section, and then click the Sorting tab.

  3. Select the Enable sorting of sections check box.
  4. In the Sorting Group box, enter a description for the sections to be sorted. Each section you want to be included in the section sorting must use the same sorting description. For example, the sort group could be Notes.

  5. In the Primary Sort Calculation box, enter the cell number or expression you want to use to sort the first section. For example, c100 would sort the section according to the value of cell c100, which is part of the section.

  6. If applicable, in the Secondary Sort Calc box, enter a cell number or expression. In the event of a tie, the section will be sorted according to the value of the second cell or expression.

  7. Configure any remaining options as needed.

  8. Click OK.

  9. Repeat these steps for each section you want to be sorted in the sorting group.
