Copying and Pasting XBRL Tags with Explicit Tuple Definitions

To ensure that Explicit Tuple ID's are pasted properly to XBRL tags, check whether the source and destination document uses Explicit Tuple Definitions. You can check, enable or, disable these settings by toggling the check box Explicitly define tuples located in the XBRL Global Settings Dialog under Taxonomy Settings Tab. The following will occur depending on whether Explicit Tuple Definitions is enabled or disabled in the source and destination documents:

  • When copying and pasting from a document that does not have explicit tuple definitions to a new document that has explicit tuple definitions enabled then any pasted XBRL tags will create a new conversion ID field set.

  • When copying and pasting from a document that has explicit tuple definitions enabled to a document that has it disabled then the Tuple IDs on the XBRL tags are deleted.

Therefore, both documents should have Explicit Tuple Definitions enabled to ensure that all Explicit Tuple IDs are pasted with the XBRL tags from the source document to the destination document. Also, any pasted Tuple ID's that conflict with an existing one in the document will be renamed to a new generated ID.
