XBRL and Tuples

The XBRL system in Working Papers and CaseView has been updated to provide improved support when applying tags contained in tuples. XBRL tuples were supported in previous versions of Working Papers and CaseView but the new system supports user-specified identifiers for individual tuples. As a result, tuple information is compiled more effectively when outputs are produced.

The new tuple system is different from the old in that an instance of a tuple must be created with an individual ID before it can be used. Our previous system enabled tagging with tuples simply by selecting the data to be tagged and then selecting the appropriate tag within a tuple. By creating a named tuple, the information that is tagged has a clearer context.

Any available tuples have a Create link next to them. The tuples remain disabled until an instance is created and named. When there are no existing instances of a particular tuple, the full structure is displayed. When an existing instance is present, the structure is not displayed until a new instance is created.

Create Hyperlink

When the Create link is clicked, a dialog box is displayed where you can enter the ID for the tuple. Click OK to create the tuple with the name provided in the dialog. Click Cancel if you do not wish to create a named tuple.
