Creating a Watermark

CaseView can display watermark text that appears behind the normal text layer of a page. You can specify the pages in the document that should display the watermark. If the watermark appears too light or overshadows the text layer, adjust the percentage in the Shade intensity box: the greater the percentage, the darker the watermark.

  1. On the File tab, click Print, and then click Page Setup.

  2. Under Scope, select the appropriate option for the watermark. For example, selecting Current Page applies the watermark to only a single page.
  3. Click Watermark.
  4. In the Watermark box, enter the text for the watermark in double quotes. To enter a text function to control the watermark, click images\calctool_shg.gif to access the Calculation Editor.

If the watermark text is long, you can use line breaks to display the text on multiple lines. Press Shift+Enter where you want to start a new line. A paragraph marker in the text box indicates where the lines break.

  5. In the Shade intensity box, type or select the darkness of the watermark. As a general rule, the watermark %'s are

    1-4

    light

    5-24

    medium

    25

    dark

  6. Under Text escapement, specify the printing angle of the watermark text.

Where the watermark consists of multiple lines, the text escapement (printing angle) selection applies to all lines of the watermark text. Individual lines cannot be printed at a different angle.

  7. Under Position, select the position of the watermark on the page.
  8. (Optional) Enter a skip condition to control when the watermark prints.
  9. Click the Font tab to specify the appearance of the text.
  10. Click OK, and then click OK again to exit the Page Setup dialog.

To view the watermark, on the File tab, click Print | Print Preview.

Notes

  • Due to differences between printer and screen drivers, watermarks may not print with the same intensity as they appear in the print preview. In the extreme case, no watermark will print even though it appears in the print preview. If this problem occurs, increase the shading intensity of the watermark until the watermark appears on the printed document.
