If a cell group is selected, the cell properties will automatically acquire the settings of the cell group.

Options

Display Only

Select to display the cell on-screen only. The cell will not appear in the printed document.

Auto Skip on Input

Select to force the cursor to jump to the next cell or input paragraph after hitting enter. When cleared, the cursor positions just after the current cell after entering. The default setting for this function is to skip to the next input cell or paragraph and files are converted with this setting enabled.

Accept Focus on Input

When Input Cell is selected under Calculation Properties, select this option to include the cell in the sequence (as described in Auto Skip on Input, the sequence of pressing Enter to move to the next cell in Form Mode). Clear this option to allow a cell to be excluded from the sequence. This option is enabled by default.

To clarify, the Auto Skip on Input option determines whether or not the navigation sequence should continue when Enter is pressed, and the Accept Focus on Input option determines if the a cell should be included in the sequence.

Always Modifiable in Enable Editing

Select to allow users to modify the cell logic and formatting in the Form Mode with Enable Editing. Selecting this option in a cell gives users who do not have permission to edit cells, rights to edit this particular cell.

Cells added to the document in Form Mode with Enable Editing by users with the appropriate permissions automatically have this option enabled.

Always Deletable in Enable Editing

Select to allow users to delete the cell in the Form Mode with Enable Editing. This option gives users who do not have permission to edit cells, the right to delete this particular cell.

Cells added to the document in Form Mode with Enable Editing by users with the appropriate permissions automatically have this option enabled.

Cells can now be set to use the same "theme" as your Windows operating system. For example, if your system is Windows XP, you can set your cells, buttons and check boxes to have the Windows XP look too. To prevent the operating system theme from being used, clear the check box. If your OS does not have a theme, this option is not available.

Hide/ Skip Blank [ $ ] because the cell contains a currency symbol and is not blank.
Hide/ Skip Zero [ ] because the value is zero.

Hide Selection Border

By default, when a cell is selected in the Form Mode a blue border appears. Select this option to prevent the border from appearing. This option is not available for cells that are check boxes, radio buttons, or buttons.

Right Click Menu

Select to enable a customized right mouse button for the cell. Once selected, a new tab appears called Menu, where the menu can be customized.

Left Click Menu

When selected a drop-down list button is added to the right end of the cell. Clicking the cell displays the list.

Note: Not available for pop-up cells.

Calculation Properties

Calculated Cell

Select to contain a value that can be directly entered or entered by calculation.

Popup Cell

Select to change the current cell into a popup list box. This will enable the Popup tab.

Note: We recommend to not use the Hide/Skip Blank option for blank popup cells because in form mode blank popup cells are given a width so that the user can click on the cell. However, blank popup cells in print preview or when printed are given no width and therefore do not use up any space.

Input Cell

Select to allow users to input a value into the cell while in the Form Mode (with or without editing enabled). If you are creating a check box or radio button, the cell is automatically designated an input cell.

External Data Access

Select to enable the saving of cell data to the CaseView database. The External Data tab and the Copy Template tab appear in the Cell dialog. Click each of these tabs to set additional parameters for this cell.

Loading values from the CaseView database can be accomplished by use of the CVDATA() function in the Calculation field. The External Data Access check box should not be selected when loading values using the CVDATA() function.

Values from the System Databases can be loaded using the CVDATAC() function in the Calculation field.

Overridden

Indicates that the cell calculation is overridden by input entered in the Form Mode (with or without editing enabled). Clear this option to return to the calculated value. If the value input by the user in the Form Mode differs from the calculation entered, this check box activates automatically.

Query on Override

Select to disable the override warning message when entering data into input cells. The query can also be used to clear flags from non-input cells. This functionality could be used when rolling over cells from current year to prior year columns during a year-end when the overridden flag would not be appropriate. If the cell is modified so that it is no longer an input cell, this option clears as well.

Override Indicator

When selected, a red dot appears to the right of the overridden cell in the Form Mode. Clear this option to return to the calculated value of the cell. This option is unavailable if no input is entered in the Form Mode. This option is available for all cell types except Button cells. If the cell is modified so that it is no longer an input cell, this option clears as well.

Calculation box (not labeled)

Type a cell calculation. For a list of cell functions, see Cell Functions Index. Click images\extdesc_shg.gif to access the Calculation Editor.

To enter or edit a cell calculation from the document view quickly, click in the Equation bar for the active cell, then type or modify the calculation syntax.

Note: When inputting values into a numeric cell in the Form Mode (with or without editing enabled), simple calculations using +-*/() can be input and will be interpreted and used as the value for the cell.

Calculated Value

Lists the value that will appear in the cell as the result of any calculations entered.

Override Value

Displays any override conditions placed on the cell.

Sum Group

Type or select a sum group you want to assign to the cell. Use sum groups to add cell values into a total cell. At a later time, if you require additional cells, assign them to the appropriate sum group and the value of the cells automatically updates the total line. The total cell contains the following calculation: CGROUP("my sum group"). Do not assign the total cell to a sum group.

Table Relative

Select to make the cell group to be unique for this table only. By not selecting this, generic formulas can be created within a table. See information on CGROUPT and CGROUPT function for more information on using this feature to access table specific information.

Accumulator Group

Type or select an accumulator group. When working with long columns of numbers that span more than one page, use accumulator groups to create a subtotal that displays at the bottom of the page and carries forward to the top of the following page. Each cell in the column must be assigned to the accumulator group in order for the subtotals to appear correctly.

Note: Before assigning cells to accumulator groups, ensure you have completed the procedures for Accumulating Columns of Figures.

Accumulator Total

Designates a cell as the subtotal that appears on the bottom and top of a page when presenting columns of figures that span more than one page. Click Accumulator Total only if the current cell is located in the carry forward footer and you have completed the procedures for Accumulating Columns of Figures.

Tool Tip

Tool tips are notes linked to a tool button or icon that appear on-screen when you pass your cursor over that button or icon. A tool tip provides additional information about the item. In CaseView you can link a tool tip to the current cell so that it appears whenever the cursor is over the cell in the Form Mode.

For example, if creating a button cell containing a Sort row event, enter "Sort Rows" in the Tool Tip field. The tip displays when the user's mouse rests over the button.

A tool tip can include a calculation. Click images\extdesc_shg.gif to access the Calculation editor.

Tip: You can insert a line break in a tool tip by inserting \n in the string where the break is wanted. Similarly, \t will add a horizontal tab to the text.

Cell Label

Enter a name into the cell label to help further identify the cell within the document. The cell label can be either an expression, enclosed in " "’s, or can be a calculation such as CELLNO or SYSDATE. Click to access the Calculation editor.

Note: Cell labels do not support dependencies. If you are working with cells that depend on other cells to recalculate, consider using custom properties instead.

Label Group

If desired, type or select a cell group to be associated with this cell label. This option, enabled only if the cell label is filled in, allows users to group labeled cells. The group can be used in the Link cell event to filter the cells that are displayed during that event.

Placeholder Text

Enter a text calculation to be viewed in form mode or form enable editing mode when the cell's value is empty. This option is available when the cell if an input cell is an alphanumeric, numeric, or date cell.
